Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Lahore → Islamabad → Chilas

Early morning departure from Lahore. Drive to Islamabad via motorway (4 hrs), then continue on the Karakoram Highway through Mansehra, Battagram, and Besham to reach Chilas by evening. Overnight stay at Chilas.

Day 2

Chilas → Karimabad (Hunza)

Drive along the KKH with stunning views of Nanga Parbat (9th highest peak). Stop at Rakaposhi viewpoint for photos. Arrive in Karimabad — the heart of Hunza. Visit Baltit Fort in the evening. Overnight in Karimabad.

Day 3

Karimabad → Attabad Lake → Passu

Morning visit to Altit Fort and the ancient Ganish Settlement. Drive to Attabad Lake for boating on its turquoise waters. Continue to Passu for the famous Passu Cones and suspension bridge walk. Return to Karimabad.

Day 4

Eagle's Nest & Khunjerab Pass

Early morning drive to Eagle's Nest viewpoint for a sunrise panorama of Hunza Valley. Then drive to Khunjerab Pass (4,693m) — the highest paved border in the world. Return to Karimabad. Free evening for local market exploration.

Day 5

Karimabad → Naran / Chilas

Begin return journey. Drive back along KKH to Chilas or optionally divert to Naran via Babusar Pass (seasonal, Jun–Oct). Overnight in Chilas or Naran.

Day 6–7

Return to Lahore

Drive back via Mansehra and Islamabad motorway. Arrive in Lahore by evening. Optional stopover in Naran for Lake Saif-ul-Malook (adds 1 day). Trip ends with unforgettable memories!

  • Khunjerab Pass is open June to November (weather dependent). CNIC/passport required.
  • Babusar Pass route available June to October only.
  • Road conditions can change due to weather — itinerary may be adjusted accordingly.
  • Carry warm clothing even in summer — temperatures drop significantly at altitude.
  • We recommend booking hotels in advance during peak season (June–August).
  • Mobile signals are limited in some areas — Jazz/Zong work best in northern areas.

How long does it take to reach Hunza from Lahore?

The drive from Lahore to Hunza takes approximately 18–20 hours (split over 2 days). We break the journey with an overnight stop in Chilas to keep it comfortable.

What is the best time to visit Hunza?

The best time is April to October. Spring (April–May) is great for cherry blossoms, summer (June–August) for Khunjerab Pass, and autumn (September–October) for golden foliage.

Can we customize the itinerary?

Is the trip suitable for families with children?

Yes! Many families travel to Hunza. The roads are paved (KKH) and our vehicles are comfortable with AC. We drive at safe speeds and take regular breaks.
